Diversity includes all human differences. Valuing diverse people strengthens our workplaces, organizations, governments and communities, and enriches our personal lives.

It’s an unsettling time. Some of us feel unsafe. If that’s you, you’re not alone.

We want to help you be safe and feel safe. Here are resources that can help.

  • Someplace Safe: 800-974-3359, (services and resources for victims of crime, including domestic violence – Douglas and surrounding counties)
  • 211: 211 or 800-543-7709, (health and human services information and resources)
  • Outfront Minnesota: 800-800-0350, (crisis line for LGBTQ Minnesotans)

If you are in immediate danger, please call 911. If you feel unsafe, please turn to one of the resources above.

The Alexandria Police Department, the Douglas County Sheriff, and the FBI field office in the Twin Cities are monitoring the situation in our area.

Hate may be loud, but it won’t win.

We know that a peaceful community is possible. One that’s safe, inclusive, and welcoming for everyone.
